PRUDENCE FOSTER (1675 – 1755), daugher of Isaac Foster and Mary Jackman


Joseph Boardman was born about 1664. He died on 18 May 1737 in Topsfield. [1] He married Prudence Foster on 17 February 1669/70 in Topsfield. [2]

Prudence, the daughter of Isaac Foster, was born on 23 May 1675 in Ipswich. [3] The widow Prudence died on 28 October 1755 in Topsfield. [1]

Joseph was a carpenter in Topsfield in 1700. [4] Joseph and Prudence were members of the church in Topsfield. [5]

Joseph Boardman was a commoner (or freeholder) in Topfield on 27 March 1716. He paid £4-05-06 to support the minister between 1710 and 1720. He received nine and a half acres of common land on Winthrop hill on the north side of town. [6]

Joseph was appointed an overseer of the poor in 1728/9. [7]

On 13 Nov 1734 Joseph Boardman left his two daughters, Abigail Cummings and Hannah Perkins, all of his estate, real and personal, which was not otherwise desposed of, at his and his wife's decease. In 1742, the widow Prudence and her two daughters sold Joseph's property in Topsfield to Abigail's son Elisha Cummings. [8]

i. Abigail Boardman was born on 8 September 1700 in Topsfield. She married Isaac Cummings.

ii. Hannah Boardman was born on 16 August 1703 in Topsfield. [9] The widow Hannah Bachelder died on 26 April 1783, age 79, in Topsfield. [10] She married first Jacob Perkins on 5 December 1721 in Topsfield. [2] Jacob is probably the son of Elisha Perkins, baptized on 13 November 1692 in Topsfield. [11] Jacob, an "aged man" died on 18 November 1758 in Topsfield. [12] The widow Hannah Perkins married John Batchelder on 23 August 1763 in Topsfield. [13] John, an "aged man" died on 2 February 1771 in Topsfield. [10]
